How does a cloud server work?
A cloud server uses virtualization. With virtualization, multiple virtual machines (or cloud servers) are created on one powerful, physical machine with software that is also called a 'hypervisor'. These cloud servers behave the same as a physical machine and are completely separated from each other.
The hypervisor allocates each cloud server the necessary resources, such as processors, memory and storage capacity. When a website or application (temporarily) needs more memory or computing power, you can allocate extra resources to a cloud server via our control panel.
A cloud server is, thanks to the hypervisor, independent of hardware. This means that a virtual machine can be easily and quickly moved to another, physical machine or even another data center. Defects or loss are therefore no longer a major risk factor. The independence of a cloud server results in a strong improvement of the reliability and availability of your website(s), webshop(s) or application(s).
Only pay for what you use
Due to the flexibility with which the computing power, memory and storage of cloud servers are adapted to the needs of the moment, we only bill you for the resources you have used.
